Welcome

Welcome to The Breast Way Round

dscf1299-1.jpg

In 2008 over £26,500 was raised and this year we’re going to try and raise even more.

On 22 - 25 May 2009, our charity motorbike run takes place.

The route takes us from Kilmarnock Football Club on Friday 22 May and ends in George Square, Glasgow on Monday 25 May.

We are stopping overnight in Oban (22nd), Inverness (23rd) and Fort William (24th), so please look out for us.

Toot your horn and give us a wave to cheer us along our way.

You can sponsor us here: www.justgiving.com/breastwayround

This year we are riding in memory of Alyson Porter

The Breast Way Round charity motorbikebike run, was the ‘brainchild’ of ShirleyAnn Barnes of Kilmarnock.

Here is ShirleyAnn on her Honda CBF600 . . .

ShirleyAnn was inspired to learn to ride at the tender age of 41 by her best friend, Alyson Porter, who battled breast cancer for three years.

Sadly, Aly died on 1st July 2008, just after the first event was completed. She wanted so much to be a part of it. Her spirit and determination now lives on, through what we aim to make a yearly event.

Macmillan are very supportive in all aspects of the care they give. Not least the patient grants they award to people who find themselves in financial hardship due to this devastating disease. Statitics show that one in three people will be affected by cancer at some point in their life. The consequence is that seventeen percent of sufferers lose their home due to the financial hardship that ensues.

A number of male riders are also taking part. They are showing their support by wearing a decorated pink bra on the outside of their leathers.

We already have the maximum number of entrants for 2009, but if you would like to take part next year (or organize a charity ride in your area) please contact us.

We now have our very own Breast Way Round Forum

It’s FREE to join and open to all entrants, and anyone interested in biking.

Please take a look and register today!

Thank you for your support.
